Hello out there in bicycle land, my name is Mike Munk.  Welcome to my cycling website.  I’m a retired ('96) Air Force officer and have been dabbling in the sport of cycling since '89. 

Since retirement I've called Alabama home in the off season and the roads of America are home in the summers.  Since '97 my wife and I have been leading bicycle rides across the nation for America by Bicycle...a bicycle touring company from New Hampshire that specializes in long distance, fully supported rides.  Also since ’97 I’ve taught cycling classes under the auspices of the League of American Cyclists.  Since January 2001, I've tried to create a website that riders of all levels would enjoy and benefit. 

As you browse through this site, you'll find lots of photos and day by day accounts of our most recent treks across the US.  If you want to get a feel of what it's like riding across the nation, don't miss the journals.  They run from April to October.  I’ve also included various articles about our sport, schedules for League classes I’m teaching, and links to other sites.  I hope you find them informative and you enjoy your browsing through Bamacyclist.
