 Day 0
Getting Ready!

DAILY DOINGS:  Boy, wasn't it just 5 days ago we were in Costa Mesa?  The last 5 days have been a blur with driving to Maine to do the Fall Foliage Rides.  I for one am ready to do some riding if I can get my body time to agree with the time we have daylight around here.  Got to get used to the climate too...we left in the 70s and in the span of 5 short days we drove, we went through 65/93, 37/52, 67/92, and then 41...that was the high for that day.  By body can't figure out whether to wear a coat, or shorts...hmmm.

We drove up through the Blue Ridge area and the colors are just starting to get ready for peeping.  Here in Maine, it appears that the color won't be peak for another couple days, but it's getting there.

Barb, Karen, and I met the riders this afternoon and got all the bikes ready to go.  I'm typing this up just before they come back for orientation at 4:00 and then it's off to dinner across the street.  I think everyone is aching to get started tomorrow.  I'll have to throttle them back a bit because we like to keep this a bit more laid back than the summer rides.  The mileage is only about 40 a day and the weather is gorgeous right now...we're in the 70s!!!  I've never seen it this mild so I'm really looking forward to a nice week of leaf peeping in my short sleeves.

Tomorrow we start.  It looks like a nice group and only 10 riders to keep up with.  Sometimes it's harder to keep up with that many because with a big group, you might not miss someone right away and they are back on track before you discover they have been gone.  But with 10, if someone's missing, you know it right away.  Somehow, I think we'll manage.

I'll be keeping a condensed journal for this and next week's ride.  Hope you enjoy following us and seeing the photos of the color.  See you starting tomorrow.  M
