 Day 5
We finally got some climbing!

ROUTE: Salem NH to Manchester NH DISTANCE: 48 Miles WINDS: SE 5-10
WEATHER: Cloudy until after the SAG then sunny and mild...high 65 TERRAIN: Rolling to hilly TOTAL CLIMBING: 2500 feet
DAILY DOINGS: Sorry for the late posting of yesterday's page.  The motel didn't have free wireless...I refused to pay $6.00 to get on line.

Today was almost perfect...the calm before the storm.  Tonight the rain is supposed to start and it's supposed to rain most of the day tomorrow...and it's our longest day in the saddle.  But that's tomorrow...today was beautiful  We had sunny skies to finish the day and temperatures that allowed us to take off the jackets for the afternoon.  We finally got into some hills today with a couple significant climbs to warm our legs up for tomorrow.  I hope you enjoy the photos of what we saw today...it's a shame we can't get the true colors on the photos.  The color is brilliant and we're enjoying every minute of the ride...even when we were going up.

DID I SAY THAT?:

"I sure gave 'granny' a workout today."

"I was doing pretty well and then thought I'd get into my lowest gear and take it to the top...the bad news was, I was already in my lowest gear."

"Legs don't fail me now!"

"You might know the prettiest color was at the top of the hills."

"I didn't have a low enough gear for the Chestnut Hill climb and I didn't have a high enough gear for the descent."

"I'm saving my energy for Chestnut Hill."
"Yeah, but you've got to get there."
"Good point."

DAILY DIGITAL DELIGHTS

Cemeteries seem to have the best color.  This one had headstones from the mid 1700s.  A beautiful resting place.

Never have we seen so much color...everywhere.

A fire red tree beside our motel made a nice backdrop for Amy's yellow jacket.

It was hard to take a photo of Mac today in his red jersey...he blended in pretty well.

It just don't get any better than this.

Another of the old cemeteries...Susan was buried in 1861.

Serenity is a stone fence, sunshine through the trees, and brilliant color everywhere.

With that smile, you can bet we were cresting a hill.
