 Day 3
We had it all today...ocean, trees, and marshland.

ROUTE: Portsmouth NH to Amesbury MA DISTANCE: 35 or so miles WINDS: Light in the morning, SSE by afternoon at about 5/10
WEATHER: Overcast and cool.  38 morning low and 53 afternoon high TERRAIN: Mostly flat all day...nice pop up to the motel. TOTAL CLIMBING: 500 feet maybe...if you count the bridge.
DAILY DOINGS: The big news today was that Boston Bob, Dick Harter, and George Pierce came to ride with us today.  All dedicated alumni, and Dick even rode a REAL bike this time.  It was great to see them all even though it was only a couple weeks ago that Bob and Dick were doing Ride The West with us.  It was especially special to see George riding today.  If you've been following the website over the years, you know that George had a bad accident on Ride The East last year.  He's just getting back on the bike and doing great.  He still has a way to go to get back in form, but he handled the ride today with ease and even acted as tour guide to show the riders some of the local sights.  Great to see you guys...see you on the road again soon.
DID I SAY THAT?:  "There's a big difference in a sunny 53 degree day and an overcast 53 day...brrrrrr."

"Hey Mike, you can take him!"  (Referring to the photo on the right)

"Nope, no training wheels.  Nope, too big.  Nope, saddle too hard."  What was going through the head of the little guy as he passed our bikes at the seawall (upper right).

DAILY DUH:

Makes sense to me.

I wonder how much they charge a lobster for the tour?

DAILY DIGITAL DELIGHTS

A typical New England scene.

Yellow bike with a flower arrangement or Roark...yellow bike with flower arrangement or Roark.  Some decisions are just too tough to make without careful thought.

Hiding the fact she put her booties on the wrong feet, Amy's plot was finally uncovered when she tried to pedal her bike with her feet crossed...it wasn't pretty.

Marian almost forgot to change the Male/Female sign on the porta potty...I'd think a better way to tell would be whether or not the seat was up.

Mac was impressed with the color at this cemetery.  There were headstones from the 1700s.

Radiant reds inland today.

I waited for almost an hour to get this photo...I think it was worth it.

Tourists come in all shapes and sizes.
