DAILY REPORT:
Well, everyone showed up and we got everything done in reasonable time. My
crew didn't arrive until Friday which didn't give us much time to get settled
before the riders needed tending to. We started at 8:30 (yeah, I
know...banker's hours) with registration and bike assembly and finished that by
about 3:00 except for one late arrival. During orientation we discussed
our operations and then had an hour to talk about safety and what challenges lay
ahead of the riders. This is one of the most beautiful rides we have on
our docket,
but it's not an easy
ride with all the climbing and some traffic to deal with. Fortunately in
this area drivers are accustomed to seeing cyclists and the culture is different
out here...plus, most of our ride is a published bike route for coastal riders.
After all the official stuff and getting all the bikes in working order, we had a grand first dinner at a small fish place in town. They only had enough seating to accommodate our group so they closed the entire restaurant just for us...now we have to ride with all that grub they provided.
Tomorrow we start our adventure with our newest best friends. We have 16 alumni on this ride...great to see old familiar faces and a few new ones to boot. Tune in to see what we're up to and hopefully we'll have some beautiful photos to show you of the coast. See you tomorrow...tonight, we rest.

HAPPENINGS ON THE ROAD...ACTUALLY, IT WAS ONLY PREP TODAY |
|
If anyone can get this looking like something that one can ride, Jim can. |
Hmmm, let's see...is this the front or back...for that matter, is it the top or bottom? |
Before long, he had it sorted out...at least where to put the wheels. |
Finally, a bike...I think. |
