Note:  Mark Your Calendars!  The next LAB Bike Ed Course will be offered by the Montgomery Bicycle Club in the summer of 08. The course will be held at the New England Financial Building, 2740 Central Parkway (Behind Home Depot on the Eastern Bypass) and the First Baptist Church in Prattville.  For more info about or sign up for the next class, email me at mmunk@bamacyclist.com.  Info is also posted on the MBC website.

I didn't know there were this many flat tires in Alabama.

It looks so easy when Mike does it.

The object of this scan drill is to ride the line, look at me, tell me how many rings I have on, keep pedaling, and don't fall over.

One of the prerequisites for passing the "Quick Stop Drill" is to not run over the instructor.

Snap that turn!!!  Great job, steer right, turn left, outside pedal down, push against the inside handlebar, look at your exit track!!!  Here's another drill that has major demerits if you run over the instructor.

After performing the Quick Stop maneuver, Craig got a thorough critique of his technique and body position while Jason provided spotter assistance.  Riders learn to position their body before applying the brakes to prevent endovers.

Each exercise includes a demo...body position and correct application of the front brake is the key to a controlled quick stop...that's how you stop it on a dime!  Now that you are stopped, what's next?

Riding this white line wasn't hard until Mike put these stupid tennis balls on it.  Steer the bike...not the body...steer the bike, not the body.

In class we learn the proper technique for riding across bad angle RR tracks.  If you approach tracks like this...what happens next?  Hint:  It isn't good and if your lucky it only involves an orthopedic surgeon.

Take that corner hard!  The bike will take it if you have the nerve.
