Home Cycle America '96 Blue Ridge Parkway '99
Since retirement in 1996, I’ve staffed on
various cross country rides during the summer. That’s kinda what I do
now. I look forward to each summer to get back
on the road and to make new friends in the cycling world. Immediately upon
retirement in 1996, I went on a cross country ride with Cycle America (CA), a tour group
out of Minnesota.
In 1997, I was on staff with America by Bicycle (ABB) for their cross country challenge. ABB is located in New Hampshire and they offer motels and a more direct route across the country. I've staffed with America by Bicycle ever since '97. In 1998, my wife got tired of me being gone all summer so she joined me on two of the rides. Now she and I lead most of the rides that ABB has to offer. We enjoy seeing the country every summer and so far, we haven't gotten tired of living out of a suitcase for over 6 months a year. There’s so much to see in this country and from the seat of a bicycle is the best way to see it. As of July 2002, I've ridden in every state in the continental US and I can assure you, there's no better way to see in the good old US of A.
To read about some of the rides I've taken, follow the button links above for ride journals complete with pictures. This section will grow as I ride more and take the time to write them up. If you have the time to check them out, you may get the inspiration you need to plan your own trip. Believe me there's nothing like it. If you find anything in particular that you find helpful, inspirational, or informative, drop me a line and let me know. I always enjoy hearing from fellow cyclists.
