Cycling Links

These are some of my favorite cycling links. You'll find instructional articles, traffic safety tips, maintenance how-to articles, advocacy issues, touring info, and just about anything you can think of that relates to riding a bike.    If you are interested in a cross country ride or just a portion of the country, check out America By Bicycle’s link.  They are one of the top touring companies in the country.  Also, check out the daily journals listed at the bottom of this page.  Hope to see you on the road sometime.

Report a dud link.

Neat Cycling Places

bullet   Check out this web site if you are interested in building a custom Ti bike.  They do quality work and have many satisfied customers...I should know, I have 2.

bullet  Bicycles In Glass - exquisitely hand sculptured in glass. A unique source for gifts and wedding cake tops.

bullet One of the best bicycle museums I've ever seen and they have a cool website.  The museum is located in Orchard Park, NY and we try to stop in on our cross country rides.  The riders always list it as one of the highlights of the tour.  The owners, Carl and Clary Burgwardt, have done an excellent job of collecting historic bicycles and offer a wonderful guided tour of the facility.  If you ever get the chance to stop by, it is well worth the time if you have any interest in cycling.  Click the image for the website.

Cycling Instruction/Advocacy

bulletKen Kifer's Bike Pages - Interesting opinions on a myriad of subjects.  You can find just about anything here...news, humor, instruction, and links galore! (He's from Alabama too :-)   ED NOTE:  In the late summer of 2003, Ken was tragically struck and killed by a drunk driver while on a ride in a rural area near his home in Alabama.  The cycling community has lost an expert cyclist, an advocate, and a friend.  We will miss his wit and professional insight into our cherished sport.  For now, his site remains for all to see and to gain from his efforts to bring the joys of cycling to the entire world.  Rest in peace dear friend.
bulletA John Forester Web Site -John is the Zen Master of cycling. He is a staunch cycling advocate, a transportation engineer, and author of "Effective Cycling." He has served as an expert witness in many litigations concerning cycling and transportation planning efforts.

bullet United Bicycle Institute - Bicycle mechanics education.  Located in the foothills of the Siskiyou and Cascade Mountains in southern Oregon, this professional school offers classes in bicycle repair, frame building, and mechanic certification.  I attended in March of 2003 and found it to be well worth the time and effort to attend.  These guys are pros, check them out if you are interested in working in the bicycle industry, wish to open a bike shop, or just want to learn more about bike mechanics so you can keep your own steed in pristine working order.
bullet Cycling Links - Great reference website for just about anything athletic...including cycling.
bullet Mike's Mega Bicycle Links page - Rated by Bicycling Magazine as a top "links" site.

bullet Bicycle Safe by Michael Bluejay -- This page shows you real ways you can get hit and real ways to avoid them. This is a far cry from normal bike safety guides, which usually tell you little more than to wear your helmet and to follow the law.
