Autaugaville Loop

Terrain: Several good flat sections and rolling terrain to break up the boredom.  Be prepared for a couple of good climbs, especially the one on CR 9 at about mile 35.

Distance: 54 miles

Level: Intermediate

Tired of riding the same areas all the time around town.  Well, here’s a chance to get away and try some new areas.  This ride starts out dead flat for the first 7 miles then starts to roll with a couple of climbs on CR 40.  After the store at mile 24, you’ll be flat again until turning on CR 9 at mile 34.  There’s a good hill on that road.  After that climb, the ride is rolling to the end.  I always enjoy getting out on the other side of Augaugaville.  Use your maps to explore other roads if you wish.  Hwy 14 is the only fast traffic road out there but you can ride it most of the time without any problem as you connect with CR 9, 33, 1, 15 and 45.  You’ll have to use 2 maps to get the entire route covered.  Explore, enjoy, and groove in the country.

To get to the start:  Leave Prattville on Hwy 14 west toward Selma.  Autaugaville is about 10 miles out on 14.  Park at any of the stores at the intersection of CR 19 and Hwy 14.  We sometimes park at an old abandoned elementary school about 0.3 of a mile before CR 19.  There’s a good hunter’s hangout just past the intersection on Hwy 14.  They are biker friendly and should let you park.  You’ll know you are there for all the animal “trophies” they have on the wall.  No biker heads though, only animals.
