rolling with one significant climb on CR 15 just before Hook’s Crossroads Distance: 76 Miles Level: Moderate to
strenuous for distance From Montgomery: Take Hwy
110 (Vaughn Rd) east from the eastern by-pass. John Hall’s Store (abandoned)
is approximately 14.5 miles out from the bypass. It is at the intersection of CR 37 and SR 110. There is another store about 200 yards
back toward Montgomery from John Hall that’s open if you need supplies and an
elementary school for parking if you like. This is a good ride to
get away from the Montgomery traffic.
You will enjoy the Alabama countryside free from traffic for the most
part. Exercise caution on SR 110 and SR 82.
Traffic is usually not heavy, but it is a fast road with no shoulder. This is a great route for
rural riding but it only has 2 stores and the first one is slightly off
route. At 13.4, the route turns
right, but you should turn left to go to Ma’s Store. Your mileage will be 1.6 long after you
return to the route and for the rest of the way. The second refuel stop is at Bean’s Crossroads in Bullock Co. There are no other stores until you get
back to Cecil. |
