Spinner’s Park-Independence Loop

Terrain: This ride has it all.  It’s also a relatively new route since CR 40 was not paved from Old Kingston to Hwy 82 until 1999.  You’ll encounter big rollers to Posey’s Crossroads.  Then a good 2 mile downhill into Old Kingston.  Rollers again until a good climb up to 82.  After Independence you’ll have about 10 miles of flat terrain until you have a good climb on CR 165 just before Hwy 82 again.  Easy rollers back into Prattville.  I prefer riding this route in the opposite direction, but it’s 43 miles either way.  J

Distance: 43 miles

Level: Intermediate

From Montgomery, go north on I-65 to the first Prattville exit (Holiday Inn/exit 179). At the end of the ramp, turn left on Cobb's Ford Rd. Go about 4 miles and cross Hwy 31. Cobb's Ford becomes Main Street. Go down the hill and keep going until Main turns 90 degrees to the right. Follow street until you get to 6th street. Turn left on 6th and follow it until it dead ends into CR 57. Spinner's Park is on the right at the dead end. Any of the Prattville rides can be ridden out of Spinners. It’s a popular meeting place for P’ville bikers.

Hwy 82 (T) Use extreme caution while riding on Hwy 82.  Fast traffic and no shoulder.  At the top of the hill, just before you get to Hwy 82, there is a dirt road that goes to the left.  It is usually rideable and will come out directly across from your next action point.  It will keep you off of 82 if you wish.
